You be Caliban, we'll be the witches
Candice Wuehle & I ask each other questions; the podstack turns one year old!
Welcome, subscriber, to the Cosmic Cheeto’s 10th Podstack! (Imagine confetti falling from the ceiling as you read this.)
Though the podstack has evolved over time, the core ideas remain the same: I get to talk to a brilliant writer for an hour or so, said brilliant writer gets to plug a book, muse on topics, be brilliant. Since the podstack’s inception — almost a year ago to this very day — I’ve interviewed some real luminaries at various stages of their careers. Check out these early episodes below:
It’s been a whole lot of fun, and I’m thrilled to celebrate the 10-episode anniversary of said fun with this week’s interview! Candice Wuehle is the author of the captivating novel Monarch as well as three dazzlingly surrealist books of poetry (The Death Industrial Complex was a finalist for the 2020 Believer Magazine Book Award), and the Substack Bimbo Summit, which I cannot get enough of.
My interview with Candice took an unusual format: I came up with three questions to ask her, and she came up with three questions for me. What ensued was a totally illuminating, mind-bending and abundantly feminist conversation, as all the best conversations are, and as conversations with Candice can only ever be.
Mentioned below: beauty queen sleeper cell assassins, Nicole Kidman-themed friendship bracelets, Margaret Qualley’s expressions in The Substance, what Manhattan would look like from Mariel Hemingway’s point of view. Hope you enjoy, and please be sure to follow Bimbo Summit and keep an eye out for Candice’s next novel, Ultranatural!
